Privacy Policy
Galaxy Planet Colonise for iPhone and iPad. In effect 30 September 2026.
The short version. There is no account and we never ask who you are. The game sends us anonymous gameplay counts - which planet was cleared, which gun was bought - tagged with a random number the app made up for itself. There are no adverts, no trackers, no analytics companies and no data sold or shared with anyone. That is the whole arrangement.
Who we are
Galaxy Planet Colonise is made and operated by an independent developer. For anything in this policy - questions, complaints, requests - write to awooche@gmail.com. We are the data controller for the information described below.
What the game collects
One thing, and it is not about you: anonymous gameplay events. When you clear a planet or buy a gun, the app notes it and sends it to our own server in a batch. Each event carries:
| Install ID | A random identifier the app generates for itself on first launch and stores on your device. It is not your Apple Account, not your device ID, and not the advertising identifier - it is a number with no meaning outside our own event table. Deleting the game destroys it permanently; reinstalling makes a brand new one that cannot be connected to the old. |
|---|---|
| Event name | One of a fixed list - see below. Anything not on that list is thrown away by the server. |
| Event details | Game facts only: galaxy and planet number, star rating, which gun, upgrade, colonist or bonus, which coin pack, and your coin balance. Never free text, never anything you typed. |
| App version and platform | So we can tell whether a problem is new. |
| Time | When the event happened. |
The complete list of events
This is all of it. The server refuses anything else, so the list cannot quietly grow without a new release of both the app and the server.
- Getting started: first install, app opened.
- Campaign: planet started, cleared or failed; boss started or killed; revive used; run given up; bonus collected; medal earned.
- Armory and Space Base: gun bought, gun upgraded, blaster upgraded, upgrade bought, UCF rank bought, colonist bought, colonist selected.
- Coins: purchase screen button tapped, purchase completed, purchase cancelled.
What the game does not collect
- No personal information. No name, email, phone number, date of birth, photos or contacts. We never ask, and there is no field to type any of it into.
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to.
- No location. The app does not request or receive it, at any precision, ever.
- No IP addresses. The analytics database has no field for one, and our web server is configured to keep no access log of requests to this site or to the game. The one exception is honest and small: if the server actually fails, the failure may be written to an error log that can include the address it came from. Those entries exist to fix faults, are never used for anything else, and are rotated away.
- No advertising identifier and no tracking. The app does not use Apple's IDFA, does not ask for tracking permission, and does not track you across other apps or websites. Nothing here is used for advertising.
- No third-party SDKs. No Google, no Facebook, no Unity Ads, no analytics vendor, no crash-reporting service. The analytics you read about above is software we wrote, running on a server we rent.
- No payment details. See below.
Purchases
Coin packs are sold by Apple through the App Store. Your payment goes to Apple; your card number, billing address and Apple Account never reach us and we could not see them if we wanted to. All our server learns is that some install completed a purchase of a named coin pack - the same anonymous event as everything else. Apple's handling of the transaction is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
What stays on your iPhone only
Your actual save - medals, stars, coin balance, guns, upgrades, the colonist you picked, your settings - lives in the app's storage on your device and is never uploaded. It is included in your iPhone's normal iCloud or computer backups, which are yours and encrypted by Apple, not by us. Deleting the game deletes the save.
Why we collect anything at all
To make the game better, and for nothing else. Concretely: to find the planet where everyone gives up, to see whether a boss is unfairly hard, to learn which guns nobody buys, and to notice when a release breaks something. We look at totals across all players. There is nobody to look at individually and we have no interest in trying.
Under the GDPR our lawful basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): understanding how our own game is played, using data that cannot identify you, which is a minimal intrusion measured against a real need to keep the game working and fair.
Who else sees it
Nobody. The data is not sold, rented, licensed, shared, traded or handed to any advertiser, broker, partner or affiliate - there are none. The only other party involved is the hosting company whose server the data sits on, which stores it for us and does nothing else with it. We would disclose data only if the law actually compelled us to, and anonymous event counts would be of remarkably little use to anyone asking.
Where it is kept, and for how long
On a rented server in Stockholm, Sweden - inside the EU - sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection and reachable only by us behind a password. Events are automatically deleted 24 months after they are recorded. We do not keep them longer to see whether they turn out to be useful.
Your rights
If you are in the UK, the EEA, or somewhere with similar law, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to and port your personal data. We want to be straight with you about how these work here:
- Stopping collection is entirely in your hands. Deleting the game removes the install ID from your device, and with it the only thread connecting any stored event to your phone. Nothing further is ever sent.
- Access and deletion have an honest limitation. Because we hold no name, email or device identifier, we have no way to tell which rows belong to you, and we are not going to ask you for personal details we otherwise do not want purely to search for anonymous ones. If you contact us we will explain exactly what we hold and delete anything we can identify as yours.
- Complaining. You can complain to your national data protection authority. We would rather you told us first - awooche@gmail.com - and gave us the chance to fix it.
Children
The game is suitable for a general audience and contains cartoon space combat. It is not directed at children under 13, and we knowingly collect nothing from them - in truth we collect nothing that could establish anyone's age either way. There is no chat, no user profiles, no social features and no way for players to contact each other. Coin packs are real purchases, so if a child uses your iPhone, Apple's Ask to Buy and Screen Time controls are worth setting up.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, we will change this page and move the date at the top before the new version of the game ships - not afterwards. Material changes will be called out in the app's release notes.
